DIVING

Diving consists of several categories: Competitive, Masters and High (Cliff) Diving. Each category requires that person be of good moral character, has participated in the sport for a long enough time to have developed a full resume of accomplishments, is a contributing member of his/her community, and was born in Hawai'i or lived here for at least 5 years.  Further qualifications and descriptions for each diving category are shown below:

Competitive Diving

​ This category is for organized pool diving, sanctioned by FINA or USA Diving, Inc.
  • Person must be retired a minimum of 5 years from Olympic competition.
  • Events are of various heights in meters:  1 meter, 3 meter or Platform diving.
  • Competitive diving events can be individual events or synchronized diving events.
  • Events competed in that count toward induction are: Olympic Games, Pan American Games, World Championships, International and National Championships, and NCAA Championships.
  • Accomplishments that are recognized are: World and American record holder, membership in All-American Teams, membership in International or State Halls of Fame

Masters Diving

This category is for organized pool diving, sanctioned by FINA or United States Masters Diving.
  • Person must be over 25 years of age to qualify for Masters Diving.
  • Events are of various heights in meters: 1 meter, 3 meter, Platform Diving
  • Events competed in that count toward induction are: FINA World and National Masters Championships.
  • Accomplishments that are recognized are: World or National champion & World or National record holder, membership in International or State Halls of Fame.

High (Cliff) Diving

This category is sanctioned by FINA or other World Cliff Diving Organizations 
  • Person must be over 25 years of age to qualify for High Diving
  • Events are of various heights in meters: 20 meters for women or 27 meters for men
  • Events competed in that count toward induction are: FINA World Championships and  International High Diving or Cliff Diving Championships .
  • Accomplishments that are recognized are: World or National champion & World or National record holder, membership in International or State Halls of Fame.
